Do Your Teeth Get Healthier if You Drink Tea?

Do Your Teeth Get Healthier if You Drink Tea?Green tea is one of the most popular beverages around. It's usually because the beverage is full of antioxidants and its ability to increase metabolism to burn fat.

However, apart from that, it is also good for the mouth! According to medical practitioners, green tea has several compounds that seem to fight bacterial infections and also handle inflammation when it arises. Here are a few reasons why drinking green tea is good for your oral health.

Preventing Cavities

Green tea is quite useful in preventing cavities to form because of its anti-acidic nature and also its ability to control bacteria. Since cavities tend to thrive in an acidic environment, you will find that the green tea lowering the overall acidity in the mouth causes the cavity to not progress if it had already started forming.

Gum Health

Since green tea is full of anti-inflammatory properties, drinking the beverage can be instrumental in controlling periodontal disease. A study of about 1000 men in Japan found that those who drank the tea daily had a better set of gums than those who didn't. Similar results were achieved in Germany when people were asked to chew candy containing said extracts.

Better Breath

Bad breath in the mouth is often caused by microbes that break down sugars and other food particles to give off the foul smell. However, since green tea is a microbe killer, you will find that the mouth will have a lot less microbes and therefore the environment for stinky breath won't be around.

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia performed an experiment to measure how effective substances that claim to help with bad breath were, and green tea outperformed chewing gum, mints and parsley seed oil!

Green tea is a delicious beverage. What's more, it has numerous benefits for the mouth apart from quenching our thirst. As such, if you want to break your thirst, it's better to do it with such a beverage rather than sodas and the likes.
