Process for Porcelain Veneers

3D rendering close-up of a dental veneer being placed on a tooth Thanks to their durability and versatility, porcelain veneers - also known as dental veneers - are a popular option for treating discolored teeth, disproportionate teeth, unevenly spaced teeth, and teeth with minor chips and cracks.

The accomplished Seattle and Bellevue cosmetic dentists at Cooley Smiles use the highest quality porcelain dental veneers to refresh your appearance with a smile that's as strong as it is aesthetically pleasing.

Designing Your Vibrant, New Smile

A thorough examination will ensure that you have a healthy dental foundation and that porcelain veneers will correct your individual condition. During the exam, our Bellevue porcelain veneer dentists will also evaluate the size, shape and overall condition of your teeth.

This will provide a basis for discussing your aesthetic goals and expectations, as well as your treatment options. We will then develop a porcelain veneer treatment plan customized to rejuvenate your smile.

Tooth Preparation for Porcelain Veneers

The physical application of porcelain veneers requires two office visits. The first step of your first visit involves preparing your teeth for your custom-made porcelain veneers.

A small amount of tooth enamel will be removed to compensate for the added thickness of your dental veneers. Next, impressions of your teeth will be taken for use in use in creating your permanent porcelain veneers.

Your Temporary Dental Veneers

Your teeth impressions will be sent to our dental lab, which will craft your durable, precisely fitting veneers from the highest quality dental porcelain. After your impressions are taken, our Cooley Smiles dentists will fit you with temporary veneers.

Temporary dental veneers resemble your permanent porcelain veneers, but are created and shaped with dental bonding. They are designed to protect your teeth while providing functionality as you await your permanent porcelain veneers.

Finalizing Your Permanent Porcelain Veneers

On your second and final visit for porcelain veneers, your temporary veneers will be removed and the porcelain veneers will be placed to check for proper fit and color. The color of your porcelain veneers can be lightly tinted to provide a natural look, and the veneers can be adjusted to conform to the alignment of the surrounding teeth.

When you are happy with the color, fit and overall appearance, your porcelain veneers will be permanently bonded to your teeth.
