3 Signs of Oral Issues

3 Signs of Oral IssuesA healthy mouth is moist, firm, and consists of pink tissues. It is also pain-free and has a pleasant smell. A change in the color and appearance of your mouth may indicate that something is not right. Luckily, many oral issues are easy to treat if detected early, and you can achieve this by learning the signs of dental problems. Here they are:

Bad Breath

Bad breath is embarrassing. As you are aware, coming across something that smells bad is disgusting. How about if you speak on social occasions with a foul-smelling mouth? People will likely avoid you, which can lower your self-esteem. While you may experience bad breath after consuming certain foods, halitosis may indicate severe conditions such as gum disease, infections, and oral cancer.

Bleeding Gums

Bleeding gums are a common oral condition in adults and kids. Sometimes, bleeding gums may occur if you brush too hard. However, if bleeding becomes severe, it may be a sign of gum disease. This condition becomes more severe in people with underlying conditions that affect the body's resistance to fighting infections.

Mouth Pain

Mouth pain, especially in the jaws and teeth, may result from various factors. First, jaw pain may indicate teeth grinding that can cause severe tooth damage. Injury is another cause of jaw and teeth pain. After an injury, a dentist may perform tests to find any damage that might have occurred. You can also experience mouth pain due to gum disease or tooth decay. For instance, swollen and painful gums mostly occur due to irritation from bacteria in the plaque.

Do you know that ignoring tooth pain could lead to tooth loss? Severe tooth sensitivity or aches may indicate that gum disease is progressing. At an advanced stage, this oral condition can affect the supporting tissues, causing tooth loosening. If not treated, you may end up losing your natural tooth.
